Junior Room

Junior Room

We provide care and early education for 10 children ages from 2 to 3 years. Children attending this room can avail of the ECCS Community Childcare Subvention Scheme. There are 3 childcare staff in this room. 

Early Learning and Play

In Junior Room, we believe that play is the most powerful medium through which young children learn. All children in Toddler room are encouraged to actively participate in a range of age appropriate play and learning activities in both structured and unstructured settings including free play, circle time, story time, song time  and outside play time.

Activities include;

Home Corner                    Dressing up clothes, playing with our shop.

Creative Area                    Painting on table, easel, play, dough, collage, cutting and glueing activities.

Sand /Water Play            Buckets, spades, bottles, water wheels, jugs, funnels.

Book Area                           Story time, puppets, listening to animal sounds.

Construction Play            Duplo, lego, stickle blocks, large floor blocks.

Small World Pay              Farm animals and farm set, Dinosaurs, garage and cars, dolls house.

Music Area                         Songs, musical instruments, dancing and moving to music.

Quiet Area/Table            Puzzles, threading, peg boards.

Outdoors                             Pedalling bikes, climbing frames, ball games, gardening activities, nature walks around the grounds.

Siolta

We follow the Siolta guidelines. These are a national set of standards for early childhood education. They support and guide staff in enhancing the quality of early childhood experiences.

Aistear

We follow Aistear, the curriculum framework for children from birth to six years in Ireland. It provides information for adults to help them plan for and provide enjoyable and challenging learning experiences, so that all children can grow and develop as competent and confident learners.
