DSP Community Employment Scheme

South West Wexford Family Resource Centre is based in the old St. Louis Convent in the village of Ramsgrange, Co. Wexford and have operated a Community Employment Scheme for over 25 years in this rural setting.

Throughout this time, the benefits to the Centre are enormous with participants gaining much valuable work experience in very areas such as –

  • Childcare
  • Reception
  • Maintenance
  • Youth/Family Support work
  • Administration
  • Caretaker
  • Community Café
  • General Workers

Without the CE Scheme, the Centre could not continue to offer quality service and continue to operate to its full potential.

To be eligible you must be over 21 years and be in receipt of a Social Welfare payment for 12 months.

All participants on CE Schemes are required to undertake Training which is funded by DSP to assist them in gaining either full or part-time employment.

Work placements are based on 19.5 hours per week and participants are given the opportunity to update and gain new skills.

At South West Wexford FRC we are very fortunate in that over the years many participants have gone on to full or part-time employment, become self-employed or gone back to Third Level Education.

For further information, contact Jane McWilliams CE Scheme Supervisor on 051 389418 or email cecoordinator@swwfrc.ie

THE SCHEME

The Community Employment (CE) programme is now administered under the DSP (Department of Social Protection) and is designed to help people who are long-term unemployed and other disadvantaged people to get back to work.

This is done by offering part-time and temporary placements in jobs based within local communities like ourselves at South West Wexford Community Development Group and to be given the opportunity to update and gain new skills whilst on the CE Scheme.  Participants can take up other part-time work during their placement.

A Training Budget is available to update and gain new skills and all participants on CE Scheme is encouraged to undertake Training to assist them gain either full or part-time employment during or after their term on Community Employment Scheme.

In order to qualify for a Community Employment Scheme, you must contact your local Employment Services Office in the South East to register for positions that become available together with a Job Vacancy Number for the particular position you are applying for.  You can contact our CE Supervisor here for help with your application or for more information just ring Jane 051 389418. cecoordinator@swwfrc.ie

Positions will be posted up on Jobs Ireland Website or you may contact our CE Supervisor and you will be provided with the Vacancy number prior to making contact with DSP.  This is required before any Interviews will take place.  Job Searches will be carried out on all individuals that apply in order to see if they are eligible for the CE Scheme.
