What’s on this week!

Covid Level 5
As we welcome the level 5 restrictions into our lives, here at SWWFRC we have spent the last few days considering some changes to the ways we can support you & yours.

Under the new restrictions we have to minimise the number of people coming into the Centre & our community. 😷

But, we are still here; at the end of the phone or an email to support you as best we can🙏😊

Please contact us, whether it’s for information, guidance, an appointment, a listening ear or a chat, we are here.

Creative Images Group

CREATIVE IMAGES GROUP 2014

Our aims is to promote photography in the community, and to provide a forum for discussing idea and exchanging information on the subject of photography. The emphasis is on socialising, having fun and learning more about photography. No great knowledge, expenditure or equipment needed on photography

Membership.

Mary Ryan,  Patsy Kent,  Maria Doyle,  Majella Brown,  Liz Kelly, Marie McGrath,  Sheila Chapman,  Eileen Redmond.

We have also a number of members who do not attend meetings, but keep up to date with activities  and work of Creative Images on Face Book by voting for their favourite image etc..

Education;

Peer learning is the core of Creative Images actives.  We meet every Thursday night at Ramsgrang Center.  We gain and expand our knowledge of Photo Shop by working as a group on various tasks we set out for ourselves.

We usually meet on a Thursday night at the Center.   But since February we have being meeting on a Monday night together with Blokes With Cameras.  Both groups came together to participate   in a FETAC level 5 in Photoshop with tutor Derek Nolan .

The group have successfully completed FETAC Level 3 & 5 in digital Photography.

We have one member who has progressed on to 3rd level fulltime Arts Course at Carlow IT, Wexford, and has now completed her first year at College as a mature student.  From being involved in Creative Images Group she felt and believed she had the skills and confidents to progress to fulltime education.

We have shared some of this knowledge and skills  from the above courses with the transition year at Ramsgrange Community School, where some of our members helped in presenting a digital photography module to transition year students.

Education Outings

We use these education outing to become more experienced and familiar with the workings of our cameras and to get an understanding of the settings on our cameras in various situations.

Current outings being discussed are one with Blackstairs Eco Trails, they do walks on the river Barrow or the Blackstairs, hills, looking at birds/Wild flowers/archaeology etc .

Also Rosegarland Estate the site of the 1966 ploughing is being discussed .

Exhibitions in the Local Community

Creative Images staged a very successful exhibition down at the Cockle Shells Art Gallery, Duncannon just before Christmas.  Members have sold quite a few images.  This exhibition got a very good review from the New Ross Echo Newspaper.

A number of our members exhibit photo image at various Craft fairs around County Wexford.

Funding

We have not received any financial support from grants etc.

We have received funding from the VEC to run the Photo shop Course with the Men’s group.

Each member pays €5.00 each at meeting on Thursday night.  Up until September 2013 Creative Images hired a room costing €25.00 per night.  Since September 2013 Creative Images  have been brought in under the umbrella of S.W.W.C.D.P.  This exchange has meant Creative Images group now pay €10.00 per night for the hire of the room.  We plan to use the money saved by this switch over, to bring in an expert in Photo shop and photography to further educate and demonstrate the advanced and improved methods   and techniques of Photo shop and camera use to our group.
