Playschool provides care and early education for up to 22 children ages from 3 ½ to 5 years. Children attending this room can avail of the Free Pre School Scheme from 9.30 am-12.30 am (Free) or from 9.00am-1.30 pm for €4.50. Children can also stay from 1.30 – 2.00pm at a cost of €2.50 in order to match with school collection. There are 3 childcare staff in this room.
Early Learning Curriculum in Playschool
In Playschool, we believe that play is the most powerful medium through which young children learn. All children in playschool are encouraged to actively participate in a range of age appropriate play and learning activities in both structured and unstructured settings including free play, circle time, story time, song time and outside play time.

We follow the Siolta guidelines. These are a national set of standards for early childhood education. They support and guide staff in enhancing the quality of early childhood experiences.
We follow Aistear, the curriculum framework for children from birth to six years in Ireland. It provides information for adults to help them plan for and provide enjoyable and challenging learning experiences, so that all children can grow and develop as competent and confident learners.
As Playschool is only open for 38 weeks a year, camps are run during Halloween and Easter Term in Playschool room to facilitate parents.
